Fujitsu, The Body Shop Announce Global POS Agreement

The Body Shop to Standardize on Fujitsu TeamPoS 2000 M Hardware

Frisco, TX, March 1, 2005 — The Body Shop International PLC (LSE: BOS), based in the United Kingdom, has signed a global agreement with Fujitsu which will make available its TeamPoS 2000 M point-of-sale (POS) systems and infrastructure management services to all The Body Shop stores and franchises worldwide.

The Body Shop, founded in 1976, is a skin and body care retailer that created a global niche market for naturally inspired skin and hair care products. The company offers more than 600 products and 400 accessories. Through the agreement, Fujitsu TeamPoS 2000 M units with SmartPoS peripherals may now be installed in more than 2,000 The Body Shop stores across 51 countries.

"When searching for a new technology partner, we wanted a single vendor that could supply and support our worldwide POS hardware requirements with a win-win vision for the partnership," said Jon Granville, global head of IT at The Body Shop International. "Fujitsu filled the hardware need with its TeamPoS 2000 M platform, but its comprehensive services offering and global reach sealed the deal."

"Fujitsu's worldwide strength offers The Body Shop a seamless, global relationship that realizes the company's 'One World, One Way' vision," said Austen Mulinder, president and chief executive officer of Frisco, Texas-based Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. "Our goal is to help The Body Shop become a best-practice global retailer by providing a standardized POS hardware platform, combined with infrastructure management services, to reduce operating costs and increase their customers' satisfaction - worldwide."

Fujitsu's TeamPoS 2000 M is a point-of-sale system that uses the Intel Pentium M processor and adapts easily for POS, customer kiosks, multimedia displays or management terminals. Its modular design enables the system to grow and change with the retailing environment, resulting in the elimination of costly system replacements, maintenance and upgrades. TeamPoS 2000 supports a wide range of configuration options to suit individual store needs.

The Fujitsu family of SmartPoS Peripherals combines hardware and embedded software - called the SmartPoS Manager - to track, monitor and control each unit. The series is compatible with the Fujitsu TeamPoS 2000 M platform and includes SmartPoS PC Keyboard, SmartPoS LCD Monitor, SmartPoS Scanner and SmartPoS Printer.
