PETCO "Adopts" Fujitsu for Retail POS Hardware
Frisco, TX, January 25, 2005 — PETCO (Nasdaq: PETC), the nation's leading pet food and supplies specialty retailer, has selected Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. to provide point-of-sale hardware for all new store openings.
Installations began during the first quarter of 2004. PETCO's current plans call for opening as many as 90 stores in fiscal year 2005. Typical installations include Fujitsu TeamPoS 2000 point of sale terminals, DT 50 receipt printers, custom PETCO keyboards and 15-inch LCD operator displays. Fujitsu also will stage all equipment with Microsoft Windows operating system software and provide depot maintenance services. PETCO's principal format is a 15,000 sq. ft. superstore with 4-5 checkout lanes per store.
