Fujitsu Enhances GlobalSTORE POS Software With Microsoft .NET, Visual Studio .NET
New York, NY , January 17, 2005 — Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. is introducing a new version of its GlobalSTORE point-of-sale (POS) software platform built on the Microsoft .NET Framework, the programming model for building XML Web services and applications, and with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2005. The new version of GlobalSTORE is being demonstrated at the NRF 94th Annual Conference and Expo, Jan. 16-19, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York.
GlobalSTORE is a full-featured, customizable POS, cash management and back office application designed for small specialty to large chain retailers. An application framework, GlobalSTORE combines several application development tools into a single, modular point-of-service platform that enables retailers to develop and deploy POS applications faster, at lower cost.
"Integrating GlobalSTORE with Microsoft's Visual Studio .NET and the .NET Framework will help retailers reduce IT development time even more, so they can roll out applications faster," said Keith McNamara, senior vice president of general merchandise and software operations at Fujitsu. "We've empowered retailers with POS software that is simple to customize because they don't need to learn proprietary development tools. Customers have seen as much as 40 percent faster development time over traditional applications."
"Fujitsu's GlobalSTORE solution is exactly what we had in mind when we created Microsoft Smarter Retailing," said Brain Scott, general manager for Microsoft's Retail & Hospitality Industry Solutions Unit. "GlobalSTORE is engineered to help fight complexity, allowing retailers to spend less time managing infrastructure and more time delivering results."
GlobalSTORE is Fujitsu's Microsoft Windows-based integrated retail software platform. Its retail-specific, modular architecture and rapid-development tools make GlobalSTORE easy to customize and maintain, to lower the retailer's total cost of ownership. It integrates seamlessly with customer relationship management, store systems, kiosks and in-store mobile computing. GlobalSTORE's Windows platform also supports multimedia and browser-based applications to dramatically reduce training time for store associates.
