Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc.
San Diego, CA, June 30, 2004 — Microsoft Corp. has named Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. "Windows Embedded Partner of the Year" in the OEM category for the Americas at the Windows Embedded Developers' Conference 2004 -- DevCon -- being held in San Diego June 28-July 1.
Microsoft's Partner of the Year Awards is a worldwide program that recognizes the innovation and expertise of partners that have consistently contributed to a wide range of new embedded products and/or services and have a demonstrated record of success in enabling customers to bring their designs to market quickly.
"Fujitsu has been a fantastic partner for the Microsoft Mobile and Embedded Devices Division this year. Major customer wins such as Canadian Tire and Ross Stores exemplify our collaborative sales achievements in retail," said Scott Horn, senior director of the Mobile and Embedded Devices Division at Microsoft. "Windows XP Embedded running on Fujitsu's Team POS hardware provides retailers with a rich native and managed retail application platform that is easily integrated into existing and next-generation IT infrastructure."
The Fujitsu TeamPoS 2000 point-of-sale terminal is designed to support the Windows XP Embedded platform. Recently announced customers for Fujitsu's POS system include Canadian Tire and Ross Stores.
"It's easy to demonstrate the cost-saving benefits of Windows XP Embedded to retailers," said Bill Witte, Fujitsu senior vice president of self-service, product and marketing operations. "Windows XP Embedded enhances our cost-saving TeamPoS terminal by providing a componentized, yet powerful, flexible and reliable operating system. The ability to support industry standards such as OPOS and USB, remotely boot across a network and run in diskless configurations makes Windows XP Embedded even more attractive to retailers."
