TreoSystems now offers Fujitsu MobileReady Solution

Product Locator Software and Fujitsu iPAD combine to optimize mobile computing performance

Charlotte, NC, January 09, 2004 — TreoSystems announced today that it has successfully ported its iPAL merchandise locator system to Fujitsu's iPAD mobile platform, creating a powerful Fujitsu MobileReady solution that will give retailers a seamless, cost-effective approach to integrating and implementing hardware and software for wireless inventory location tracking.

"Fujitsu's versatile iPAD mobile computers are the ideal platform for iPAL," said Robert Johnson, President of TreoSystems, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. "Designed for wireless, networked applications, Fujitsu iPADs are easy for mobile workers to learn because they support the familiar Windows CE environment, and their versatility makes them easily adaptable to a wide variety of uses. iPAD combined with our iPAL product locator system offers retailers a tremendous, optimized mobile solution."

According to IDC, a global industry research firm, handheld devices retain strong momentum, even though the U.S. economy has slowed. It estimates that worldwide shipments will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 39 percent from 13.6 million in 2000 to 70.9 million by 2005, with the U.S. market representing the largest opportunity for handheld device vendors.

With TreoSystems' iPAL, employees can provide higher levels of customer service by having access to not only the exact location of any product in the store within seconds, but also other useful information that can enhance the shopper's experience, such as how many are in stock, the current price and - what is particularly unique - suggestions for additional items they may need, creating new cross-selling opportunities for the retailer. In addition to its powerful product search capabilities, iPAL also provides the tools to track the high number of item moves and location changes done each day in real-time, thereby streamlining the process of receiving product, restocking shelves and accelerating merchandise placements, all while providing better control of in-store inventories.

Fujitsu's iPAD handheld devices are designed for wireless networking in a host of markets. iPAD electronically empowers mobile workers to better serve their customers while connecting and sharing data. This lightweight, rugged device also offers wireless capabilities to give workers real-time access to corporate systems, in-store retail, medical or a host of other applications.

"As a Fujitsu MobileReady Solution Provider, TreoSystems demonstrates that the iPAL System Suite, combined with Fujitsu's iPAD handheld computers, is a powerful combination that's ready for work in the store today," said Cathy Boss-Fessel, director of channel marketing at Fujitsu. "This solution transforms wireless working from a 'nice to do' to a 'must do'."
