Fujitsu Introduces Unique Outside Plant Enclosure with a New Spin that Simplifies Installation and Maintenance

Enclosure can be Custom Designed and Allow Rapid Deployment of popular Fujitsu FLASHWAVE® 4100 MSPP

Richardson, TX, March 03, 2008 — Fujitsu Network Communications, a leading supplier of IT and wireline/wireless networking solutions, announced today that an innovative outdoor enclosure that spins for full 180° product access is now available to house their FLASHWAVE® 4100 Extension Shelf system. This new enclosure further enhances the full range of turnkey outside plant (OSP) solutions Fujitsu provides, and allows carriers to quickly and cost-effectively deploy and maintain Fujitsu FLASHWAVE equipment for revenue-generating networks.

The FLASHWAVE 4100 Extension Shelf offers a compact 2RU (3.5") modular solution that supports high concentrations of DS1, DS3, and Ethernet services. All industrial-grade components insure high reliability whether used indoor or in an extreme temperature environment. The FLASHWAVE 4100 Extension Shelf can operate as a standalone SONET system using dual OC-3 and OC-12 connections in Unidirectional Path Switched Ring (UPSR), 1+1 or 0:2 configurations. Recently announced enhancements include an integrated DS1 Network Interface Unit (NIU), DS3 Transmux capabilities and a universal 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet card. The system can also work in conjunction with a FLASHWAVE 4500 Multi-service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) or FLASHWAVE 7500 Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (ROADM).

Fujitsu Network Life Cycle Services are available to help carriers create and extend their networks by utilizing planning services such as RF engineering, site acquisition and site preparation. When carriers are ready to build their network, Fujitsu offers a full line of deployment services, which include installation and test/turn-up services, as well as backhaul and back-office connectivity provisioning. Carriers can also opt to have Fujitsu monitor and maintain their wireless network with Network Operations Center (NOC) services and provide network statistics so carriers maintain full visibility to the inner workings of their network.
