Fujitsu FLASHWAVE® 4000 Platforms Pass Stringent Testing Requirements of Verizon Laboratories

Performance of Widely Deployed MSPPs has been Re-Certified by Verizon Laboratories via their Testing Partner Program

Richardson, TX, October 25 2005 — Fujitsu Network Communications Inc., a leading supplier of IT and wireline/wireless networking solutions, today announced that Verizon Laboratories has re-certified the FLASHWAVE® 4100 optical access platform and the FLASHWAVE 4500 core transport platform as part of Verizon’s Testing Partner Program. Both platforms were originally certified by Verizon Laboratories in January 2003 when Fujitsu was named Verizon’s first Testing Partner. This latest certification for the FLASHWAVE 4100 and FLASHWAVE 4500 Multiservice Provisioning Platforms (MSPPs) demonstrates that subsequent releases continue to meet Verizon’s expectations for well-tested products for deployment in the Verizon network.

The goal of the Verizon Testing Partner program is to accelerate the delivery of technology solutions and reduce costs by eliminating redundant testing within Fujitsu and Verizon labs. Certification is granted to product test teams that demonstrate they have the quality processes in place and the ability to deliver deployment-ready products for Verizon’s telecommunications network. Once a vendor is qualified and certified as a Verizon Testing Partner, Verizon can accept the vendor’s test results as accurate, trusted and valid, eliminating the need for Verizon to go to the expense of testing equipment again.

“Given our long-time relationship with Verizon since 1983, Fujitsu thoroughly understands their requirements for performance and quality,” said George Chase, group president and chief operating officer of Fujitsu Network Communications. “We are the only major optical networking vendor that has retained manufacturing operations while others are outsourcing to third parties, and thus we can constantly review and update all stages of our development and manufacturing processes to account for the strict requirements of Verizon’s labs. Certification of the new releases of our FLASHWAVE 4000 platforms went extremely smoothly, and illustrates another way that Fujitsu continues to meet Verizon’s operational and business needs.”
