Fujitsu to Unveil Ethernet Access Products and Discuss Critical Networking Solutions at Telecom '05 Conference
Richardson, TX, October 19 2005 — Fujitsu Network Communications Inc., a leading supplier of IT and wireline/wireless networking solutions, will be discussing and demonstrating ways to take networking beyond convergence at the TELECOM '05 conference and exhibition, which is being held next week in Las Vegas (Fujitsu Booth No. 335). New Ethernet access products that conform to the IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) standard will be unveiled at the show, which will further solidify what is already the most comprehensive portfolio of Carrier Ethernet, multiservice SONET and Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) products in the industry. These solutions are backed by Fujitsu Network Life Cycle Services, a service and support portfolio that allows wireline carriers, wireless providers and Multiple System Operators (MSOs) to plan, deploy, maintain and enhance their network and its operation.
In the Triple Play area, visitors will see how Fujitsu can leverage their diverse portfolio of scaleable Carrier Ethernet, SONET and WDM products to help carriers create scalable voice, video and data delivery architectures. For small-to-medium triple play networks, carriers can use the dynamic Ethernet provisioning capabilities on the FLASHWAVE 4000 Multiservice Provisioning Platforms (MSPPs) and Atrica Optical Ethernet solutions. Both product families support provisioning of Ethernet Private Line (EPL), Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and Ethernet multipoint-to-multipoint (E-LAN) services that are compliant with the specifications of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). For larger triple play networks in metropolitan areas, carriers can leverage the generation-skipping switching technology inherent in the market-leading FLASHWAVE 7500 Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (ROADM). Its new Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) and advanced hubbing capabilities power the Fujitsu Metro Photonic Freeway™, which eliminates the tollbooths, potholes and traffic jams common in today’s metro networks by simplifying network planning, streamlining operating procedures, and providing a flexible, modular architecture that supports any service, anywhere, and at any time.
In the Optical and Packet Transport Switching area, the unique capabilities of the highly scalable and flexible FLASHWAVE 4500 Multiservice Switching Platform (MSSP) and FLASHWAVE 6400 Layer 2.5 aggregation platform will be highlighted. These solutions will show wireless carriers how they can optimize their networks and prepare for the widespread deployment of advanced fixed and mobile broadband services.
In the Multiservice Packet Networking area, Ethernet over SONET (EoS) solutions from the FLASHWAVE 4000 MSPPs, Ethernet over Wavelength Division Multiplexing (EoWDM) solutions from the FLASHWAVE 7000 platforms, Ethernet access solutions from the new EFM portfolio, and Carrier Ethernet solutions will be showcased. Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) technology, each MEF service type, and the overall relationship with the Metro Photonic Freeway, will also be discussed.
In the Service Interworking area, carriers can learn how Fujitsu can help them manage the transition to seamless, converged Ethernet-based access over a converged MPLS core. Ethernet service interworking and pseudowire capabilities, which are based on direct customer feedback, provide the means to migrate services and the revenues associated with them to this converged network, while simultaneously diminishing risk and leveraging the carriers’ existing network infrastructure investments.
