Fujitsu to Demonstrate and Discuss Networking Beyond Convergence at SUPERCOMM® 2005 in Chicago

Major Product Enhancements and New OEM Alliances Add to Robust FLASHWAVE® Portfolio to Create a Wide Variety of Unique Solutions

Richardson, TX, June 2, 2005 — Fujitsu Network Communications Inc., a leading supplier of IT and wireline/wireless networking solutions, will be discussing and demonstrating ways to take networking beyond convergence at SUPERCOMM® 2005 (June 7-9, 2005 in Chicago, Ill.). In addition to having a large main booth where all solutions will be discussed (No. 41015), Fujitsu solutions can also be viewed at the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) SUPERDemo booth (No. 48085) and the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) Worldwide Interoperability Demo booth (No. 50094). Fujitsu executives will also chair and participate in two prominent panel events during the conference.

Main Fujitsu Exhibit Details (Booth No. 41015)

Fujitsu will be demonstrating its entire portfolio of solutions to help carriers take their networks beyond convergence.

  • The Metro Photonic Freeway™ eliminates the tollbooths, potholes and traffic jams common in today’s metro networks by simplifying network planning, streamlining operating procedures, and providing a flexible, modular architecture that supports any service, anywhere, and at any time. Access and transport solutions featured will include the widely deployed FLASHWAVE® 4000 Multi-Service Provisioning Platforms (MSPPs) and FLASHWAVE 7000 Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) solutions.
  • Next-generation data and triple play solutions will illustrate the robust capabilities of SONET, WDM, Carrier Ethernet and Layer 2.5 aggregation from Fujitsu and alliance partners, Atrica™ and Hammerhead™ Systems. MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS), Pseudowire Edge-to-Edge Emulation (PWE3) and Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) technology will also be featured prominently in these demonstrations and discussions.
  • State-of-the-art multi-vendor network management will be demonstrated in a simulated Network Operations Center (NOC) environment equipped with many solutions, including the Fujitsu NETSMART® 1500 Element Management System (EMS). Advanced service capabilities will also be discussed that can provide support at any network deployment phase.
  • Unique transport switching and packet-enabled transport solutions will show wireless carriers how to optimize their existing network and prepare for the widespread deployment of wireless data networks, Evolution Data Only (EV-DO), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX).
  • Enterprise solutions and cutting-edge technology concepts will leverage the power of Fujitsu and its computing, consulting, systems integration and telecom resources.
  • Personalized home gateway technology will demonstrate the eventual possibilities for fully digital living through private streaming video, Video on Demand (VOD), Voice over IP (VoIP), and high-speed Internet access.

Many of these solutions will be made possible due to several product enhancements and strategic Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) relationships that will be announced at the conference.

Adjunct Industry Forum Exhibit Details (MEF Booth No. 48085; OIF Booth No. 50094)

Fujitsu will be participating in two significant industry forum events that demonstrate innovations in service provisioning and advanced technology. Fujitsu and Atrica will participate in a multi-vendor demonstration of converged and interworked voice, data and video services over a variety of access networks at the MEF SUPERDemo booth (No. 48085). In addition, Fujitsu will participate in an international, joint-carrier, multi-vendor optical networking interoperability demonstration of Ethernet services deployed over multi-domain SONET/SDH transport networks in the OIF Worldwide Interoperability Demo booth (No. 50094).

Panel Forum Discussion Details

Doug Saylor, senior vice president of planning and development at Fujitsu, will take part in “Dry Martini and Pseudowires: Every Access over Any Core”, a panel discussion presented by Telecommunications Magazine. The panel will discuss how carriers can use these technologies to emulate a wide variety of traditional and next-generation services over any transport network.

Bill Erickson, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Fujitsu, will chair the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) Communications Forum panel on “WiMAX: Alternative Service Models for Service Providers” that discusses new service offerings, infrastructure requirements, business models, and the overall challenges currently facing the broadband wireless market.
