Fujitsu Network Communications Inc.
Fujitsu to Showcase Dynamic Ethernet Service Activation in OIF Worldwide Interoperability Demonstration
Visit Fujitsu at SUPERCOMM® 2005 in the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) Booth No. 50094
Richardson, TX, May 24, 2005 — -
WHAT:
Fujitsu will again participate in an international, joint-carrier, multi-vendor optical networking interoperability demonstration of Ethernet services deployed over multi-domain SONET/SDH transport networks in the OIF Worldwide Interoperability Demonstration at SUPERCOMM® 2005. Seven carriers from three continents will host the event. Fujitsu is working with two major carriers from the U.S. and Asia to leverage the Generic Framing Procedure (GFP) and Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) capabilities of its FLASHWAVE® 4500 Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP). Innovative control plane capabilities will allow this MSPP to interoperate with products from other vendors and support dynamic Ethernet service activation.
WHY:
Dynamic provisioning of Ethernet services across the embedded SONET/SDH metro network would facilitate the widespread deployment of triple play applications. The OIF Worldwide Interoperability Demonstration at SUPERCOMM 2005 will demonstrate that leading equipment and service providers have solved this challenge without introducing underlying server-layer network issues.
This global interoperability event will also demonstrate International Telecommunication Union (ITU) data plane standards in practical use within next-generation, multi-vendor network environments. Rapid adoption of these standards will accelerate the deployment of services across multiple carriers, as well as more cost-effective networking architectures.
WHEN:
- Tuesday, June 7, 2005; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, June 8, 2005; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF)
The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) is sponsoring the industry's second international joint carrier, multi-vendor optical
networking interoperability demonstration. The event, conducted simultaneously in China, Japan, Germany, Italy, France and
the United States will highlight network interoperable solutions among the participating vendors employing OIF implementation
agreements in a multi-carrier environment. The global interoperability event will include testing of User Network Interface
(UNI) 2.0 Ethernet over multiple SONET/SDH transport networks interconnected by control plane External Network-Network-Interfaces
(E-NNI). An overview of the event will be on display June 7-9 at SUPERCOMM 2005 in Chicago, OIF Booth No. 50094.
