Fujitsu Principal Network Architect to Discuss WiMAX and “The Next Big Thing” at CTIA Wireless 2005

Richardson, TX, March 10, 2005 —

WHAT:

Jim Orr, principal network architect in the wireless market development group at Fujitsu, will discuss WiMAX technology and “The Next Big Thing: A Look at Up and Coming Wireless Technologies” as part of a panel session during the CTIA Wireless 2005 convention and exposition. Additionally, scalable solutions enabling wireless data networks will be demonstrated in the Fujitsu booth (No. 4037). For more information about CTIA Wireless 2005, please visit http://www.ctiawireless.com.

Jim will discuss the market drivers and advancements made in WiMAX, a robust wireless access technology that is being designed to offer data rates at up to 75 Mbps over a four to six mile radius. WiMAX is the certified implementation of the IEEE 802.16 series of specifications and will offer a cost-effective and robust method for delivering high-speed wireless services. WiMAX will be part of an overall portfolio of wireless access technologies that also includes WiFi and 3G.

This panel will separate the reality from the hype and offer an overview of various complementary and disruptive wireless technologies, including Bluetooth, ZigBee, WiFi, WiMAX, Ultra Wideband, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), mesh networks, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and others. Special emphasis will be given to the relevant services that each technology enables for wireless subscribers.
