Fujitsu Network Communications Inc.
Fujitsu Principal Network Architect to Discuss WiMAX and Other Wireless Technologies at SCTE Conference
Richardson, TX, January 10, 2005 —
WHAT:
From in-home wireless LANs and media distribution to new metropolitan transport options such as WiMAX, wireless technology
promises new means of connectivity for the next-generation multimedia home. Jim Orr, principal network architect in the wireless
market development group at Fujitsu, will be on the panel discussing “Emerging Wireless Technologies – Friend or Foe?” during
the 2005 Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Conference on Emerging Technologies. This panel will discuss
various wireless technologies in detail and debate whether they are constructive or disruptive for Multiple System Operators
(MSOs). Fujitsu will also be the exclusive sponsor of the conference reception. For more information, please visit http://et.scte.org .
Jim will focus his presentation on the market drivers and advancements made in WiMAX, a robust wireless access technology that is being designed to offer data rates at up to 75 Mbps over a four to six mile radius. Although the IEEE 802.16 standard that governs WiMAX technology is still in its infancy, service providers acknowledge that WiMAX will offer consumers a significant broadband access option in the future. MSOs have considerable technical capabilities and experience gained in the consumer broadband services market that make them well positioned for deployment of cost-effective WiMAX data networks.
