Fujitsu Microelectronics America and Sanmina-SCI Establish Strategic Relationship
Fujitsu’s fingerprint sensor IC technology expertise to combine with Sanmina-SCI’s design integration, global manufacturing capabilities
San Jose, CA, February 27, 2003 — Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) and Sanmina-SCI Corporation (NASDAQ: SANM), a leading supplier of integrated design and electronics manufacturing solutions (EMS), have established an alliance to co-market products using Fujitsu’s industry-leading fingerprint sensor technology. According to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) announced today, the two companies are developing solutions that employ Fujitsu’s biometric fingerprint sensor ICs into multiple applications.
Sanmina-SCI will design and develop system solutions integrating the biometric authentication capability created by Fujitsu’s fingerprint sensor IC silicon and associated matching engine algorithms. Potential applications include physical access, transaction terminals, personal and business computing, automotive, mobile devices, wireless systems, and homeland security applications.
