Fujitsu Microelectronics America's MBF300 Sweep Sensor Selected as Best New Electrical/Electronic Product of the Year by Design News Magazine

San Jose, CA, December 17, 2002 — Design News Magazine has selected the MBF300 Sweep Sensor™ from Fujitsu Microelectronics America as 2002's best new product in the electrical/electronics category, one of seven products from around the United States that will compete for the publication's Product of the Year award.

"Representing the best engineering of their class, this year's winners feature a common thread of efficiency," according to Design News editors, who made the selection in all categories. "These Best Product winners all aim to make your job easier, safer and more productive."

The MBF300, which was introduced during the second calendar quarter, has emerged as the industry's most compact, cost-efficient biometric sensor IC for cell phones, PDAs and other handheld devices.

In addition to the electrical/electronics category, the other product categories are test, measurement and control, fluid power, computer productivity, power transmission, plastics/metals/materials, and fastening, joining and assembly.

Selections were made by the magazine's editorial staff. Design News subscribers will select the final winner in a ballot contest that ends December 20. The winner will be featured in the March 3, 2003, edition. Design News is published by Reed Business Information.
