Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. and I-Logix Announce New Products to Support Software Development for Fujitsu’s F2MC-16LX MCU Families

Integration of Fujitsu's SOFTUNE and I-Logix's Rhapsody in MicroC to provide design-level debugging for Fujitsu's microcontroller families

San Jose, CA, November 15, 2001 — Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) and I-Logix Inc. today announced enhanced products that will expand development platforms and provide flexible design options for microcontroller customers.

Fujitsu is introducing a new version of its software integrated development environment (IDE) - called SOFTUNE - which integrates I-Logix's Rhapsody in MicroC visual programming solution. SOFTUNE with Rhapsody in MicroC lets users completely debug system logic at the design level. Additionally, I-Logix is supporting Fujitsu in integrating Rhapsody in MicroC into the SOFTUNE IDE and will release a new version of Rhapsody in MicroC. The combination will significantly shorten development times and provide state-of-the-art design-level debugging for users of Fujitsu's F2MC MCUs.

"Extending our customer-support capability with I-Logix is a significant step forward for our microcontroller products," said Sardar Haddad, director of marketing for FMI's Embedded Processor Group. "This combination will provide truly seamless system design from concept to the end-product level."

"Integrating Rhapsody in MicroC into the SOFTUNE IDE will allow our users to perform design-level debugging," said Rick Boldt, Director of Statemate MAGNUM and Rhapsody in MicroC Product Marketing. "That is, engineers will be able to analyze their designs by animating the graphics and focusing on the software architecture and its behavior while debugging the code as it is executed on the target microcontroller. The integration will allow engineers to generate fully deployable code, run the code on the target microcontroller or the host, and then graphically debug and analyze the generated code. This results in a truly optimized implementation, a proven design, and reduced development time."

The beta version will be available by the end of this year. The commercial version will be available worldwide in the second quarter of 2002 from FMA, I-Logix and the companies' representatives and distributors.

About the Products
Fujitsu's 16-bit F2MC-16LX microcontroller and 32-bit FR MCU, both of which integrate Fujitsu's advanced flash memory, have become popular in automotive markets for use with the Controller Area Network (CAN) 2.0B compliant I/F module.

Rhapsody in MicroC graphically captures the software architecture and its behavior. It automatically generates fully readable and deployable C code optimized to fit on microcontrollers running OSEK, micro ITRON or the homegrown scheduler environments that are widely used in automotive applications. Combined with I-Logix' flagship software, Statemate MAGNUM(tm) - the industry's de-facto standard system engineering tool - Rhapsody in MicroC allows OEMs and their suppliers to share executable models and benefit from a seamless model-based development process.

Fujitsu Limited will demonstrate versions of the integration software at MST2001, the Microcomputer System & Tool Fair 2001, from November 20 to 22 at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight) West Hall 3, 4, in Ariake, Tokyo, Booth A-26. CTC will also demonstrate the software at their booth.
