Fast cycle RAM, 0.18-micron ASIC highlight FMA exhibit

San Jose, CA, October 23, 2001 — Fujitsu Microelectronics America (FMA) will display its industry-leading Fast Cycle RAM (FCRAM™) at the Network Processor Conference in San Jose Oct. 24-25. The company also will show its advanced 0.18-micron ASIC technology, which was developed to serve the high-end LAN/WAN market.

Selected by Agere Systems for its OC-192 network processor architecture, the 256 Megabit FCRAM is designed for high-performance network systems that require very high capacities and high speeds. The FCRAM provides low latencies, random cycle times as fast as 25 nanoseconds, and speeds of 200MHz. Power consumption is minimal, another benefit for leading-edge network-processor designs and architectures.

"The new network-processor market has grown very rapidly, and is characterized by a sophisticated set of dedicated device technology that requires a new breed of memory product," said Keith Horn, FMA's vice president of marketing. "Fujitsu has become a leader in the evolution to advanced memories for the network market, with the 256 Megabit FCRAM."

Also on display is the company's CMOS ASIC technology, with both standard cell and embedded array products, which can implement designs over 10 million gates. The 0.18-micron process matches the continually increasing requirements of complex, semi-custom ASICs for the network and communications markets, especially in the area of dense embedded SRAMs and high speed I/Os up to 3.2 Gbps.
