Fujitsu Microelectronics to Showcase New Microcontrollers, 1394 Multimedia IC at Annual Spring Embedded Systems Conference
ASIC system-on-chip solutions also highlight at the show
San Jose, CA, April 10, 2001 — Fujitsu Microelectronics, Inc. (FMI), an industry leader in microcontrollers and serial I/O device technology, will showcase the latest new microcontrollers for vehicle control systems and displays, along with its new IEEE 1394 multimedia bus chip, at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Francisco April 10-12 (booth 2308).
Five New Members of F2MC Series for Automotive, Industrial, Consumer Applications
Five new microcontrollers from Fujitsu's F2MC® series, developed for use in automotive and home-audio display applications,
will be introduced. Three new 16-bit MCUs - the MB90M407, MB90M408 and MB90MF408 - combine a controller IC and a driver IC
in a single package for fluorescent display controls in home and car audio systems.
Two of the new 16-bit MCUs, the MB90F428GA and MB90428GA, feature the Control Area Network (CAN) controller, and are designed to serve the LAN systems now being incorporated into vehicles for electronic driver and information controls. The MCUs provide in one package as many as four stepper-motor control functions, which are used for meter controls such as the speedometer, ignition display and fuel gauge, along with the LCD-panel control functions.
The MB90MF408 and MB90F428GA integrate Flash memory on-chip for systems that require the flexibility to reprogram the microcontroller.
The new MCUs are the latest in Fujitsu's family of microcontroller ICs for industrial control, automotive, home appliances and consumer-electronics systems and products.
New 400 Mbits/sec 1394/FireWire IC Combines PHY, Link
Also being highlighted at the show is the MB86613L, FMI's new 400 Mbits/sec 1394 multimedia IC, which integrates all physical
and link layer functions onto a single chip. The chip includes a set of Direct Memory Access (DMA) engines known as Context
Program controllers. The controller block provides 13 independent controllers for isochronous (real-time) and asynchronous
transmission. The MB86613L, which is completely compliant with the Open Host Controller specification, also includes analog
phase locked loop, transceiver and comparator circuits. The IC incorporates a serial configuration ROM interface for use in
host side designs. The architecture also supports a 32-bit interface to the PCI bus in workstations, servers and PCs.
SOC Solutions
Fujitsu will also highlight its wireless system-on-chip solutions. A demonstration of JPEG decoding using an ARM-7TDMI through
USB transfer illustrates an element of Fujitsu's SOC development platform.
