Fujitsu Announces Record-Breaking Document Scanner Shipments
Fujitsu Exceeds Industry Analyst Predictions; Ships More than 230,000 Document Imaging Scanners in Fiscal Year 2007
Sunnyvale, CA, May 15, 2008 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced that the company shipped more than 230,000 document imaging scanners in fiscal year 2007, ending March 31, 2008 -- a new record for the company. Additionally, Fujitsu achieved its best quarter ever in 2007, shipping more than 66,000 document imaging scanners in Q4FY07.
According to a recent InfoTrends industry forecast, “North American Document Imaging Scanner Placement Forecast Update: 2007,” the leading worldwide market research and strategic consulting firm for the digital imaging and document solutions industry estimated total 2007 document scanner unit placements in North America will increase by 26% and total 2007 revenue will increase by 10%. Fujitsu far surpassed the total market growth forecast prepared by InfoTrends, attaining 42% growth in document imaging scanner shipments and 19% year-over-year growth in revenue.
The InfoTrends forecast also states that the Fujitsu Imaging Products Group (IPG) owns 50-55% of unit sales in the Workgroup scanner segment and 35-40% of unit sales in the Mid-Volume Production segment. The Workgroup segment is categorized in the industry as document scanners up to $2,000 and is considered the fastest growing segment in the document scanner market. The Mid-Volume Production segment includes scanners priced between $12,000 to $30,000.
