Fujitsu Announces Record-Breaking Document Scanner Shipments Exceeding 100,000 Units in First Half Fiscal Year 2007

Broad Product Line and Outstanding Quality Enabled Fujitsu to Break Shipment Records and Maintain More Than 40% Market Share in 2006 Based on Latest Industry Report

Sunnyvale, CA, November 28, 2007 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced that the company shipped more than 100,000 document imaging scanners in the first half of fiscal year 2007, ending September 30, 2007. The record-breaking half doubles the amount of scanners shipped for the entire fiscal year 2004, and reflects a 43% growth from the first half of fiscal year 2006, showing the increased organizational adoption of document management and the pursuit of the benefits of digital imaging.

According to the most recent InfoTrends forecast, “Document Imaging Scanner Forecast for North America: 2006 – 2011,” the Fujitsu Imaging Products Group (IPG) is the undisputed market leader owning 40−45% of unit sales of the enterprise-level document imaging scanner market in 2006 in North America, and 45-50% of the unit sales in the Workgroup scanner segment. The Workgroup segment is categorized in the industry as document scanners up to $2,000 and represents 79% of all scanners shipped in 2006. InfoTrends is a leading worldwide market research and strategic consulting firm for the digital imaging and document solutions industry.

“Fujitsu continues to see phenomenal growth in the document imaging market and expects to continue its first half of the fiscal year success with record breaking shipments for the entire fiscal year 2007,” said Victor Kan, vice president of sales and marketing, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “The accomplishments to date this year have not only shown what a strong organization we have, but what a strong need businesses have today for document imaging solutions. Even with industry players such as Canon, HP, Panasonic and Plustek introducing new products into the market, Fujitsu has been able to maintain and grow its market share.”

InfoTrends’ recent forecast examines the market trends impacting the document imaging scanner market. It covers 2005-2006 placements, revenues, and market share data, as well as projections for placements and revenues through 2011 for each of the five segments of the scanner market.

According to InfoTrends, total document scanner unit placements will show a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14% through 2011. The trends driving this growth include the adoption of distributed capture, compliance initiatives, and investments in improved document processing aimed at reducing expenses while increasing productivity. Most of this growth is projected in the Workgroup scanner segment (representing 81% of units sold by 2011), where Fujitsu has been the long standing category leader with its outstanding product reliability, image quality, and paper handling capabilities.

In the report, InfoTrends states, “Fujitsu has strongly dominated the overall Workgroup segment for years, and continues to do so today. The company has the most popular products in this segment, including strong contenders in both of our sub-segments (Lower and Upper Workgroup). Fujitsu’s products are competitively priced and feature-rich for the segment, and include a device that offers both ultrasonic multi-feed detection and Kofax VRS Professional (Virtual ReScan technology).”

“Fujitsu has consistently delivered first-class products by focusing on customer requirements and emerging trends and addressing those needs with innovative, high-quality solutions, including the two top-selling scanners in the industry in 2006, the Fujitsu fi-5120C and ScanSnap,” said Sandra Collins, a Consultant at InfoTrends. “There is little doubt that the company will sustain its position as an industry leader in the years to come.”
