Fujitsu Tests SAS Interoperability at Upcoming Plugfest
Sunnyvale, CA, July 18, 2007 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals, and biometric security solutions, today announced that it will test the interoperability of its small form factor (SFF) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) hard disk drives during the 7th SAS Plugfest, the week of July 23, 2007 at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) in Durham, NH.
Fujitsu has been a key player in the development of the SAS interface HDD, and delivered the first SFF SAS hard disk drive to the market. Since then, Fujitsu has continually advanced SAS technology through ongoing research and development. Key-end user SAS benefits include enterprise class scalability, investment protection in compatible SCSI software and middleware, and the choice of direct-attached storage devices (SAS or SATA). In addition, longer cabling distances, smaller form factors, and greater addressability, will all lead to a new level of flexibility when deploying data center servers and subsystems. SAS is based on the foundation of the industry-leading SCSI specification providing reliability and continuity in the data center.
