Fujitsu Delivers 40GB Automotive-Class Hard Disk Drive
New Hard Disk Drive Handles Rugged, Outdoor Environments
Sunnyvale, CA, March 14, 2007 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today announced its global launch of the MHW2040AC Parallel ATA (PATA) mobile hard disk drive (HDD) for extreme environments. Fujitsu’s navigation series HDDs features a storage capacity of 40GB1, with strong temperature and shock and vibration resilience.
The navigation series hard drives feature impressive operating specifications, including temperature range of -30° C to 85° C making it an ideal option for outdoor environments. Enabling a range of outdoor applications, such as ATMs, point-of-sale (POS) Systems, auto-ticketing machines, and suitable for automotive GPS devices, the MHW2040AC series will ship in the second quarter of 2007.

Fujitsu designed the MHW2040AC hard disk drive series to provide specifications that are essential for today's extreme computing applications, including:

· Interface: PATA (ATA-7)
· Buffer size: 8 MB
· Track to Track Seek Time: 1.5 ms typ.
· Idle Power Consumption: 0.7 W typ.
· Ambient Temperature Tolerance (2 versions): -30°C to 85°C & -20°C to 80°C
· Relative Humidity: 8% to 90% RH
· Acoustic (Idle): 1.5 bels typ.
· Cache size: 8MB
