Fujitsu/Industry Analysts Foresee Strong Momentum for Document Imaging Market Headed into 2007
Fujitsu Achieves Record-Breaking Scanner Shipments; Top Market Research Firms Report Fujitsu Maintained More than 40 Percent of Total Worldwide Market Share in 2005
Sunnyvale, CA, December 13, 2006 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced that the company recorded its strongest half in terms of total document imaging units shipped in the company’s storied history. In the first half of its fiscal year 2006, April 1, 2006 to Sept. 30, 2006, the company’s document imaging scanner shipments increased 19 percent over the same period in 2005. The 1H06 shipment numbers broke last year’s record numbers.
Furthermore, IDC and InfoTrends, two of the top market research and consulting firms for the document imaging market, reported that the Fujitsu Imaging Products Group (IPG) maintained the top spot in the industry owning more than 40 percent of the dedicated document imaging scanner market worldwide (total market unit shipments) last year.
Fujitsu is not alone in observing the growth in the document scanner market. InfoTrends, in its “North American Document Imaging Scanner Forecast: 2005-1010” report, published in July 2006, says the market continues to be quite dynamic with very high growth rates and innovative new products. InfoTrends reports that this growth was driven by many factors, including a move to distributed scanning, compliance initiatives, focus on improving document-driven business processes, and key verticals.
“Fujitsu has maintained its strong market position by focusing on emerging trends and addressing those trends with a variety of high-quality solutions,” said Ron Glaz, program director, digital imaging solutions & services, IDC. “In the past two years Fujitsu has grown its business by driving market demand for workgroup scanning applications. Maintaining this drive will preserve Fujitsu’s position as an industry pioneer in coming years.”
“Fujitsu has established and grown its market position through solid partnerships with resellers, distributors and software partners,” said Victor Kan, vice president of sales and marketing, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “We strive to offer the most diverse and high quality line of document imaging scanning products on the market. We are proud of what we accomplished in 2005 and the beginning of this year, and see these shipment and market share numbers as one indicator that we are achieving our goals.”
Year over year Fujitsu has sustained impressive market share numbers through the development of the industry’s largest installation base. The company works closely with its channel partners and resellers to reach end-users across paper intensive vertical industries such as finance, healthcare, law, government, and real estate.
“The Fujitsu brand is a leading member of Ingram Micro’s imaging portfolio,” said Kevin Prewett, vice president, vendor management, peripherals, Ingram Micro Inc. “We’ve long been aware that Fujitsu has a loyal reseller base, which has come to expect the brand’s dependability and image quality. Their document imaging products deliver outstanding reliability, performance and value – and are supported by top-notch services.”
