Fujitsu to Demonstrate PalmSecure™ Biometric Authentication Device at 2006 Biometrics Consortium Conference

Sunnyvale, CA, September 14, 2006 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today announced that attendees of the 2006 Biometric Consortium Conference, September 19-21, 2006 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD can view and experience the award winning PalmSecure™ biometric authentication device as well as its solutions with collaborative companies.

The Fujitsu PalmSecure is a palm vein based authentication system that utilizes the latest in biometric security technology. The contactless device offers an easy-to-use, hygienic solution for identity verification, answering a worldwide need from governments to healthcare institutions to the private sector. PalmSecure captures a person’s vein pattern image while radiating it with near-infrared rays. As veins are internal in the body and have a wealth of differentiating features, attempts to forge an identity are extremely difficult, thereby enabling a high level of security. Additionally, the sensor of the PalmSecure device can only recognize the pattern if the deoxidized hemoglobin is actively flowing within the individual’s veins.

Deployment of Fujitsu PalmSecure is widespread in Japan, with more than 15,000 sensors already installed in banks, universities, hospitals and private condominiums. In the U.S., the sensor is available through select U.S. distributors.
