Fujitsu Announces Global RoHS Compliance Across Entire Imaging Products Line
Sunnyvale, CA, August 3, 2006 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced its complete line of document imaging scanners now meets the regulations of the European Union Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive. The RoHS Directive, enacted into law by the countries of the European Union in February 2003, restricts specific hazardous substances in an effort to address waste management problems linked to materials that are likely to pose risks to human health and the environment.
In order to comply well in advance of the RoHS Directive deadline of July 1, 2006, Fujitsu put in place a sophisticated management system to ensure that customers could continue to purchase its same high-quality products while working to meet the standards. The law requires all new commercial, electrical and electronic equipment to be manufactured without hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.
“Fujitsu takes environmental responsibility seriously and works diligently to make sure all of our scanning solutions met the global standards of the RoHS Directive," said Victor Kan, vice president, sales and marketing, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “We’re pleased to announce that we are in full compliance of the RoHS Directive and have seamlessly incorporated these modifications so our customers and partners were not affected."
