Fujitsu To Participate in $30 Million Grant of Technology Products and Services
Education, Healthcare, Arts and Environmental Non-profit Organizations Nationwide to Receive State-of-the-Art Fujitsu Products and Services
Sunnyvale, CA, July 21, 2006 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today announced its participation in an independently managed technology grant program involving the donation of $30 million worth of products and services. The grant program will benefit and serve the technological needs of community-based and non-profit organizations nationwide that are selected by a third party consulting firm.
"We are excited to assist non-profit organizations that will use Fujitsu products and services to better serve their communities. Non-profits are paradoxically challenged to provide critical services without the latest computer equipment to support their objectives," said Lorne Wilson, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Fujitsu Computer Products of America. "This is a terrific opportunity to gain insight into exactly how technology can assist diverse communities and markets."
Grant recipients will receive products such as the award winning Fujitsu PalmSecure™ biometric authentication sensor, document imaging scanners, external hard disk drives, notebook computers, tablet PCs, plasma TVs and other leading technology products and solutions.
Grant recipients will include non-profits from the following sectors:
- Education: As a result of the grant program, students will be able to utilize high-tech equipment to support their research and academic endeavors. With increased access to technology in their classrooms, teachers will have the capability of enhancing their curriculum and instruction. In addition, educational administrators will have the means to improve tracking of students’ achievements.
- Healthcare: The grant program will improve and facilitate services offered by national hospices and other non-profit health organizations. These entities will be able to conduct upgrades for high-tech equipment and increase security with the use of leading-edge authentication technology.
- Arts: The grant program will assist non-profits that offer art services to schools. Due to budgetary limitations, many of these educational facilities lack the funds to offer these courses. The Fujitsu products and services will help relieve constrained resources and increase educators’ accessibility to online materials. The instructors, in turn, can provide students with dynamic learning opportunities in the arts.
- Environment: The technology grant will benefit select environmental groups by enabling them to develop and enhance educational programs and materials that promote environmental awareness, conservation and preservation of wildlife habitats. The grant will facilitate the creation of instructional programs for students, residents and visitors to communicate the importance of environmental preservation.
