Fujitsu Announces Record Growth of Hard Disk Drive Shipments During the First Quarter of 2006

Technological Leadership and a Continued Focus on Customer Relationships Lead to Fifteenth Quarter of Consecutive Growth

Sunnyvale, CA, May 16, 2006 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today announced its first quarter hard disk drive shipment results. During the period ended March 31, Fujitsu increased its mobile hard disk drive shipments for the fifteenth consecutive quarter to 5.67M units, an increase of over 33% from the same quarter last year (1CQ05). In addition, Fujitsu shipped 1.2M enterprise hard disk drives, maintaining shipment levels from previous quarters in an increasingly competitive market environment.

Within the mobile arena, Fujitsu has achieved a remarkable run of sustained growth through consistent leadership delivering high quality and reliable hard disk drives. The company has long been a pioneer in the development and advancement of Serial technology. In the mobile industry, which is currently undergoing a major transition from conventional Parallel ATA (PATA) to Serial ATA (SATA), Fujitsu has already shipped over three million units of its most advanced 2.5" SATA hard disk drives.

In the first quarter of 2006 Fujitsu announced another industry first, the MHV2200BT, a 2.5" high-capacity 200GB SATA hard disk drive. Fujitsu developed the MHV2200BT to address growing demands for mobile hard disk drives with the performance and capacity required for external HDD products as well as high-end audio/video computing applications such as gaming, video editing, audio recording and DVR functionality. With this product and others, Fujitsu has continued to grow mobile hard disk drive sales into all of the top original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), non-original equipment manufactures (NOEMs) and channel accounts.

Fujitsu is also an industry leader in the enterprise hard disk drive space with a comprehensive range of enterprise products, including: 3.5" and 2.5" form factors; 10K RPM and 15K RPM spindle speeds; and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), Parallel SCSI and Fibre Channel interfaces. In recent years Fujitsu has led the development and adoption of next generation SAS technology with several first-to-market products. SAS shipments to OEMs, NOEMs and channel customers are consistently growing and improving the company’s market presence.
