Fujitsu ScanSnap Receives Prestigious 2005 Editors' Choice Award from Macworld Magazine

ScanSnap Awarded Eddy for "Breakthrough" Hardware Product; Scanner Demonstrations to Take Place at the 2006 Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco

Sunnyvale, CA, December 23, 2005 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced that the recently introduced Fujitsu ScanSnap™ fi-5110EOXM scanning solution was named a 2005 Editors’ Choice winner by IDG’s Macworld magazine, the most comprehensive resource for the Mac® market. The twenty-first annual Editors’ Choice Awards (Eddy Awards) for 2005 were officially announced online at Macworld.com on Dec. 12 by the publication.

The Eddy Awards, the Mac industry’s most prestigious distinction for breakthrough development, are given to the year’s top hardware and software products chosen by Macworld’s editorial department. Macworld’s editors looked at nearly every new Mac product on the market between Nov. 1, 2004 to Nov. 1, 2005, evaluating their overall quality, as well as their utility, innovation and elegance. Only 32 products were recognized as award winners. Recipients will also be honored in a feature article in Macworld magazine’s February 2006 issue.

The Fujitsu ScanSnap scanning solution is the company’s first scanner compatible with the Mac OS® X platform and provides Apple customers with a powerful, affordable and easy-to-use color scanner that allows consumers and business professionals to quickly convert paper documents to Adobe® Portable Document Format (PDF) files that are easily organized, shared and better protected. The ScanSnap is a compact, upright, "one-button" scanner equipped with a 50-page Automatic Document Feeder, allowing users to scan at speeds up to 15 pages per minute for single-sided documents and 30 images per minute for double-sided documents and is the first and only high-speed, double-sided color scanner under $500.

Additionally, the Fujitsu ScanSnap has the ability to scan multi-page documents containing color, black and white, and text and graphic information on both sides can be processed into authentic, searchable Adobe PDF files with the bundled Adobe Acrobat® 7.0 Standard software -- a $299 value (U.S. list). The resulting PDF documents are stored in the Mac hard drive file system or network location allowing the user to leverage Acrobat to organize, share, secure and interact with this information as they would with any other electronic file.
