Fujitsu to Demonstrate Leading Serial Storage Technology at SAS Plugfest
San Jose, CA, October 27, 2004 —
WHAT:
Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of hard disk drives and computer peripherals, today announced that it will conduct an interoperabilitiy test of its small form factor (SFF) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and 2.5" Serial ATA (SATA) hard disk drives during the SAS Plugfest scheduled for the week of November 1, 2004 at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL).
Fujitsu is in the unique position of being the only manufacturer able to demonstrate both SAS and SATA interoperability with its own SFF SAS and 2.5" SATA hard disk drives. The Fujitsu SFF SAS hard disk drives are the next generation of the industry leading MAS series enterprise hard disk drives in a small form factor enclosure. The Fujitsu 2.5" SATA MHT-BH hard disk drive is the world’s first to deliver the power of the integrated SATA SOC in a 2.5" form factor.
The SAS Plugfest is designed to ensure that SAS products manufactured by different companies will interoperate in SAS systems. Since January 2003, Fujitsu has been a key player in the development and organization of SAS Plugfests through coordination with participating vendors and regular SCSI Trade Association (STA) committee discussions. Fujitsu has remained focused and committed to the testing, deployment, and integration of serial technology and supports these events as a forum for industry leaders gathering for the benefit of end-users and the storage industry.
