Fujitsu ScanSnap™ Receives "Organizers' Choice" Award from the National Association of Professional Organizers
"One Button" PDF Scanning Solution Honored in the "Best Technology Product" Category
San Jose, CA, June 21, 2004 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. (FCPA), a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced that the Fujitsu ScanSnap™ scanning solution received an "Organizers' Choice" award from the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) in the "Best Technology Product" category. Fujitsu was presented with the award at the organization's annual conference held in Arlington Heights, Illinois in April 2004.
NAPO, a non-profit educational association whose members include organizing consultants, speakers, trainers, authors, and manufacturers of organizing products, launched their Organizers' Choice Awards program in 2000 to recognize the best products that can be used by professional organizers to assist in the development of systems and processes using organizing principles. Each year conference attendees vote for their favorite exhibited products in the categories of Best Service, Best Technology, Best Home Organizing Product and Best Business Organizing Product based on the product's ability to deliver simple, efficient, needed organizational solutions in home and office environments.
"Fujitsu is ecstatic that the ScanSnap scanning solution has been recognized by the members of NAPO," said Victor Kan, senior director of product and channel marketing, Imaging Products Group, FCPA. "The ScanSnap scanner was designed as an easy-to-use, effective scanning solution that would allow users to change the way that they utilize, organize, file and store documents -- reducing clutter while creating more accessible files. This vision has natural synergies with the goals of professional organizers. We see this award as a proof-point confirming that the ScanSnap scanner has delivered on its promise to our customers."
"NAPO is pleased to present Fujitsu with our 'Organizers' Choice' Award for its innovative ScanSnap scanner," said Barry Izsak, President, NAPO.
Since the inception of Fujitsu's ScanSnap solution in April 2003, the scanner has seen significant growth with individual users and small businesses that desire the capability to quickly convert paper documents into searchable PDF files. The Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner simplifies the paper shuffling process, and helps reduce unnecessary operational expenses such as postage, shipping and faxing. Fujitsu recently introduced its next generation ScanSnap scanning solution in May 2004, which includes new and enhanced features and functionality.
The Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner is the first and only high-speed, double-sided color scanner under $500. Using USB 2.0, the scanner transforms paper into useful digital information at speeds of up to 15 pages per minute (PPM) for single-sided documents and 30 images per minute (IPM) for double-sided documents. Multi-page documents containing color, black and white, and text and graphic information on both sides can be processed into authentic, searchable PDF files with the bundled Adobe® Acrobat® 6.0 Standard software. The resulting PDF documents can be reviewed with ScanSnap's unique PDF "thumbnail" viewing feature, making project management even easier. The PDF documents are then stored in the Windows file system on a local PC or network allowing the user to organize, share, protect and interact with this information as they would with any other electronic file. The Fujitsu scanner also comes equipped with a 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF) and CardMinder 2.0, an application designed to capture images and information contained on either side of a business card.
