Fujitsu Recognized by Business Solutions Magazine for Document Imaging Component of Innovative Healthcare Installation

Fujitsu Also Honored as Finalist in the Innovative Banking and Government Installation Categories During "Channel Connection Awards" Ceremony at AIIM 2004

San Jose, CA, March 29, 2004 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. (FCPA), a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today proudly announced that Fujitsu and two integrators -- Micro Image Systems and Ktech Corporation -- have been honored by Business Solutions magazine as Channel Connections Award winners in the "Innovative Healthcare" category, and honorary mentions in the "Innovative Banking" and "Innovative Government" vertical categories for document management installations. All award winners and finalists were recognized this month at the AIIM 2004 Conference and Exhibition in New York.

The annual Business Solutions Channel Connection Awards recognize extraordinary integrators and resellers delivering innovative document management installations. This year the Channel Connection Awards were vertically focused. All winners were evaluated on the scope, complexity, and resulting ROI of the installation.

Innovative Healthcare Installation Award Winner

Besse Medical Supply, a subsidiary of AmerisourceBergen, one of the largest pharmaceutical services companies in the United States, furnishes doctors and healthcare practitioners with medical supplies. Besse Medical Supply installed a DocuShare document management solution provided by Micro Image Systems to streamline, simplify, expedite, and manage Besse's customer documentation and invoice lists. Micro Image Systems empowered Besse Medical Supply with the ability to scan customer documents and invoice picklists' daily using Fujitsu M4097D scanners armed with VirtualReScan (VRS) technology that are distributed throughout remote Besse Medical Supply locations, and a Xerox Document Centre. Fujitsu, Xerox and Micro Image Systems received the prestigious Channel Connection Award for the Besse Medical Supply installation in the "Innovative Healthcare Installation" category.

The Channel Connection award winners, and award finalists, are premium examples of exactly this."  

Innovative Banking Installation Finalist

Fujitsu and Micro Image Systems were recognized as finalists for the Blue Ridge Paper installation in the "Innovative Banking Installation" category. Blue Ridge Paper is a leading producer of liquid packaging and coated bleached board for food service packaging. The company also produces envelopes and specialty uncoated papers. Micro Image Systems enabled Blue Ridge Paper's accounts payable department to empower both their information users and employees with on-demand, immediate access to invoice information. The Micro Image Systems installation eliminated the misplacement of invoice information with a DocuShare and DocSlide solution that included Fujitsu M4097D scanners armed with VRS technology.

Innovative Government Installation

Fujitsu and Ktech Corporation were recognized as finalist's for Ktech's installation at the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department, in the "Innovative Government Installation" category. Ktech Corporation enabled the Oil Conservation Division so that it could more efficiently manage, account for, and maintain records and information that is responsible for approximately 50 percent of New Mexico's extractive industry revenue. This requires the handling, secure archiving, and on-demand access to more than 5 million documents. Ktech's customized solution, including Fujitsu fi-4750 scanners armed with VRS technology, to capture and share documents.
