Fujitsu Mobile Hard Disk Honored By Inventec With Excellent Supplier Award
Annual Awards Recognize Fujitsu's Mobile Hard Drives for Technical Performance, Product & Service Quality, Responsiveness, Delivery, Management and Cost
San Jose, CA, March 4, 2003 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. (FCPA), one of the leading suppliers of hard drives and computer peripherals, today announced it was named the Excellent Supplier of the Year for 2002 by Inventec Corporation (Taiwan: 2356.TW). The award not only recognizes Fujitsu's ability to meet and exceed qualified supplier and purchasing requirements, but also its technical performance, product quality, service quality, responsiveness, delivery, management, and cost. Furthermore, the Inventec Excellent Supplier Award demonstrates Fujitsu's commitment to and success in the mobile hard drive market.
Inventec is a global leader in Notebook PC manufacturing with an estimated shipping volume of 1.8M units in 2003. Manufacturing facilities are located in Taiwan, Shanghai, Malaysia, and Scotland covering a wide range of products in addition to Notebook PCs such as PDAs, educational devices, mobile phones, and servers. Inventec's leading OEM relationships include HP and Toshiba.
"Inventec's Excellent Supplier Award validates Fujitsu's leadership in research and development and recognizes the dedication to excellence incorporated into each hard drive we build," said Sam Sawyer, director, storage products group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America. "We view the Taiwanese market as one indicative of the trends that will shape computing applications in the years to come. Fujitsu values its relationship with Inventec and we look forward to years of shared success."
Fujitsu's 2.5" MHS series of hard disk drives for mobile applications offer areal densities up to 53.2Gb/in2 combined with Specular Layer GMR heads, Synthetic Ferri-magnetic Media, and MEEPRML read channel technologies enabling these high-capacity drives to deliver outstanding performance. The Fluid Dynamic Bearing spindle motor technology dramatically improves non-operating shock tolerance and decreases acoustic noise. With capacities of 20GB, 30GB, 40GB and 60GB, these drives are big enough to hold large multimedia presentations, fast enough to run them, and small enough to fit in today's compact mobile computers, notebooks and consumer electronic devices.
Fujitsu was selected from a pool of more than 100 suppliers for this award, further confirming Fujitsu's proven ability to provide quality and value to world-class businesses. A ceremony was held to honor Fujitsu and other winners during the Inventec Suppliers Year End party on January 24, 2003.
