Fujitsu and RAID Inc. To Deliver SAN and Direct Connect Storage Solutions

Fujitsu Fibre Channel, SCSI Hard Disk Drives Integrated with RAID Inc. X-2, Cobra Systems

San Jose, CA, November 18, 2002 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. (FCPA), one of the world's leading suppliers of hard drives and computer peripherals, today announced that it has strategically partnered with RAID Incorporated, the Massachusetts-based high-end SAN and storage systems manufacturer and solutions provider. RAID Inc., will integrate Fujitsu's 73GB and 147GB Fibre Channel and Ultra320 SCSI hard disk drives into their family of X-2 SAN and Cobra direct connect storage solutions for its network of North American enterprise, government and education customers.  

Disk arrays are significantly affected by the performance and configuration of hard disk drives.  Fujitsu hard disk drives were selected by RAID Inc. following an extensive series of compatibility, performance and reliability evaluations.  RAID Inc.'s solutions incorporating Fujitsu hard disk drives offer customers an instantaneous solution that is reliable and easily scaled to meet future storage demand. By smoothly integrating with the existing network infrastructure, RAID solutions equipped with Fujitsu drives offer quick return on employee, customer and partner data investment.  Working with RAID Inc. further underscores Fujitsu's commitment to the RAID storage segment and dedication to working with leaders in growing markets.

Product Descriptions

The Fujitsu MAP series of hard disk drives deliver industry leading performance and set uncompromising standards with capacity points up to 147 GB and an average seek time of 4.5 ms. These 10K RPM high performance disk drives are available with either SCSI Ultra320 or 2 Gb/s FCAL-2 interfaces. Fujitsu's technical expertise in developing key hard drive components and its strong commitment to excellence allow Fujitsu to provide products with outstanding performance and long term reliability backed by a 1M hour MTBF and a five year limited warranty.  

The X2 storage array from RAID Inc. delivers unprecedented performance and data protection. Based on 2 Gb/s bit Fibre-Channel technology, the fully redundant, highly-available storage system can be configured as the core of a Storage Area Network (SAN) solution or as a direct-attached storage array. The modular 3U rack-mount design, provides the flexibility to easily scale up to 18TB of storage capacity with a single X2 storage director. Multiple X2 storage directors can then be interconnected for virtually unlimited capacity expansion.

The Cobra Series from RAID Inc. is a family of direct connect, high-availability, high-performance storage systems. Its superior 64-bit performance and connectivity is ideally suited to mission critical network and storage environments. The upgradable, open storage interface utilized by Cobra arrays connect to all major operating systems via SCSI or Fibre Channel.
