Fujitsu Expands Award-Winning Product Line With New Departmental Color Duplex Scanner
Document Imaging Leader's New Scanner Brings High-Performance, Affordable Color to Market
San Jose, CA, January 23, 2001 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. (FCPA), a market leader in document imaging scanners and scanner maintenance, today announced the expansion of it's award-winning "fi" scanner product family with the addition of the new fi-4340C departmental color duplex document scanner. With the introduction of the fi-4340C, FCPA's Imaging Products Group (IPG) has again raised the bar in the demanding departmental scanner market.
The new fi-4340C departmental color duplex scanner from Fujitsu offers industry-leading features from high-performance scanning and image quality to superior speed and a high-capacity automatic document feeder (ADF).
Fujitsu's new fi-4340C is already winning the attention of imaging industry experts.
"Fujitsu continues to build on its legacy of providing the document imaging market with innovative products and features," said Susan Moyse, analyst at InfoTrends Research Group, Inc. "The Fujitsu fi-4340C is positioned to be one of the most significant document imaging products unveiled in 2002 because it delivers Fujitsu-quality imaging at an aggressive price point."
This new scanner introduction follows Fujitsu's recent announcement that it owns nearly one-half of the enterprise-level document imaging scanner market worldwide. According to data gathered by InfoTrends Research Group, Inc., a Boston-based market research and consulting firm focused on PC imaging, image capture technologies and markets, Fujitsu's scanners held a 49 percent share (in units shipped) of the enterprise-level document imaging scanner market in calendar year 2000.
"We are truly proud to deliver the fi-4340C to the market as it represents some of the best Fujitsu engineering to date and delivers exceptional value," said Victor Kan, director of Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America. "This product brings stellar document imaging capabilities to people who need it most: insurance companies, government agencies, and financial organizations requiring archival imaging, decentralized document capture, forms processing, and OCR functionality."
The introduction of the fi-4340C also marks the final step for the company in its scanner migration strategy to the "fi-4000" series platform.
Introducing the fi-4340C Departmental, Color Duplex Document Scanner
The future is here with the new fi-4340C departmental color duplex document scanner from Fujitsu. Combining fast color, monochrome and grayscale capture modes, this scanner provides production-level functionality at a cost efficient, departmental price.
With true 600dpi optical resolution and fast color scanning with speeds of up to 48 images per minute (ipm) at 150dpi and monochrome and grayscale capture up to 80ipm at 200dpi, this enhanced color scanner from Fujitsu allows you to capture outstanding image quality from your documents. Its color scanning provides a more authentic reproduction of original documents and can bring out details that may not be picked up with monochrome or grayscale output. The fi-4340C can detect light pencil marks, dark highlighted text and even faint imprinted watermarks, all in a single pass.
Fujitsu's fi-4340C offers industry-leading paper-handling flexibility with a 100-page automatic document feeder including infrared document double-feed detection. The scanner's duplex document feeder supports paper sizes as small as 2.1" x 2.9" and as large as 8.5" x 14" and the 100-page ADF can be continuously fed without stopping the scanning process to maximize efficiency. To improve productivity, its dual CCDs scan both sides of a document at once while the automatic page-end detection saves file space and the infrared document double-feed detection reduces downtime by alerting users of any document misfeed.
In addition, Fujitsu's fi-4340C comes equipped with a duplex red, green and blue color dropout feature administered through the control panel or software configuration set, making forms processing easier than ever. The scanner's dual CCDs can also be configured to drop out different colors on the front and back with just one setting and no lamp changes required.
Furthermore, the fi-4340C includes a comprehensive option set including, a 40-character imprinter, JPEG compression board, ScanRight™ IPC, video interface and a hardware expansion slot that allows for seamless adaptation to future technology.
The ScanCareTM Preventative Maintenance Program
FCPA's ScanCare preventative maintenance program provides a comprehensive customer service and support program minimizing customer downtime and reducing maintenance costs. The ScanCare program, FCPA's only factory-authorized preventative scanner maintenance program, is an easy, affordable way to extend the life and performance of Fujitsu scanners. The ScanCare program offers 12-months of on-site service, scheduled deliveries of scanner consumable parts, two scheduled on-site field engineer visits for cleaning, and a valuable reference guide for maximizing scanner maintenance and output quality. The ScanCare program highlights FCPA's dedication to bringing maintenance issues to the forefront of the industry.
Availabilty and Pricing
The fi-4340C is available now starting at $5,495 U.S. list price.
