Fujitsu Expands Standard, High-Transparency Touch Panel Offering
Market demand for higher, off-the-shelf optical performance is growing
Sunnyvale, CA, October 25, 2005 — Fujitsu Components America, Inc. today announced it has expanded its standard, high-transparency resistive touch panel offering with more sizes and optical enhancements. The new 4- and 7-wire high-transparency touch panels provide OEMs, VARs and integrators with a larger variety of cost-effective, off-the-shelf options for transmissive LCDs used in high ambient light applications.
The newest standard 7-wire high-transparency panels are 15- and 17-inch, Clear and Anti-Glare (AG) panels with 86% transmissivity; the 17-inch AG model includes Fujitsu’s industry-leading Anti-Smudge(AS) surface. New to the standard 4-wire high-transparency line are a 3.7-inch Anti-Glare 80% transmissive panel; a 3.9-inch Clear 86-percent transmissive panel; and 10.4-inch, 86% transmissive panels available with Anti-Glare or Clear hardcoat finishes.
Fujitsu now offers more than 10 different high-transparency touch panels as standard products. The company uses proprietary Index Matching coatings on the panel’s glass and film layers to lower reflectance losses for higher transmissivities, which are available up to 92%.
According to Bruce DeVisser, Fujitsu Components America’s product marketing manager for touch panels, “Today’s Resistive Touch Panels have evolved from transparencies in the 70% range to fairly standard 80 to 82%-transmissive product offerings in recent years, but demand for even higher, off-the-shelf optical performance has driven Fujitsu to expand its standard high-transparency product development to better serve this burgeoning market segment.”
Available immediately, estimated pricing for the new high-transparency touch panels range from $8.00 to $120.00 depending on size, in OEM volumes. Lead time is stock to 12 weeks ARO.
