Fujitsu Adds High-Transparency Touch Panels to Standard Offering
Improves Brightness, Contrast of low-power LCDs
Boston, MA, May 24, 2005 — Fujitsu Components America, Inc. today is introducing and exhibiting at the Society for Information Display Exhibit and Conference new standard product, high-transparency touch panels for transmissive LCDs. As additions to Fujitsu’s 4- and 7-wire resistive offering, the new touch panels enhance image contrast and clarity in high ambient light applications.
The new touch panels feature 86 percent transmissivity and are targeted to a variety of portable and stationary applications ranging from tablet PCs, kiosks, navigation systems, industrial instruments, and test instrumentation. To achieve the 86 percent transmissivity, Fujitsu used a special Index Matching coating on the panel’s glass and film layers to lower reflectance losses. High-transparency touch panels have the advantage of consistently higher brightness with low-power LCDs and improved contrast.
New high-transparency panels added to Fujitsu’s standard 7-wire line include 12.1 and 15-inch products. In addition, new 3.9, 10.4 and 5.7-inch, high-transparency panels join existing 6.4 and 8.4-inch, high transparency sizes in the standard, 4-wire line. The 3.9-inch 4-wire panel is compatible with Toshiba’s LTM04C380K LCD.
Available immediately, estimated pricing for the new high-transparency touch panels range from $9.00 to $140.00 depending on size, in OEM volumes. Lead time is stock to 12 weeks ARO.
