Fujitsu Enhances Compact Printer Unit for High-Capacity Kiosk Applications

Sunnyvale, CA, April 26, 2004 — Fujitsu Components America, Inc. has enhanced its high-capacity thermal printer assembly with more standard features and print capabilities for expanded use in various self-service, informational, and transaction kiosk applications.

The new FTP-639USL001/002 measures a compact 136(W) x 163(D) x 107(H) mm and prints at 200mm per second, making it the smallest and fastest kiosk printer in its class. It comes standard with an integrated 3-inch thermal print mechanism, an auto guillotine cutter, and either a miniature high-speed serial or USB controller board. Fujitsu has also improved the presenter and a retractor to handle unlimited receipt lengths.

The printer can output a variety of data, graphics and characters, and now 2-D bar codes, at speeds of 200mm/sec (8in/sec) with 8 line/mm resolution. To conserve power, the print speed can be adjusted to125, 80 or 40mm/second. Its operating life is 100 million pulses or 500,000 cuts.

The printer accommodates paper or ticket/label stocks ranging from 60 to 120 microns thick, and 80mm wide. A standard paper spool supports 5-inch diameter paper rolls and up to 10-inch rolls when fitted with an extender. Once the paper is loaded, the printer automatically senses the starting point and readies the media in the feed path. The paper path is designed to simplify loading and to release jams.

Designed to accommodate various mounting schemes, the printer features a partial tilt function. The die-cast metal frame provides durability, mounting stability, as well as ESD protection and heat dissipation or retention.

The FTP-639USL001/002 printer series is available immediately. It is priced at $535 for a serial model (001) and $535 for a USB model (002) in 100-piece quantities. Delivery is 16 weeks ARO.
