Fujitsu Components and Apollo Display Technologies Offer Smart Kits for LCD and Touch-Panel Integration

Sunnyvale, CA, May 19, 2003 — Fujitsu Components America, Inc., a touch panel manufacturer, and Apollo Displays, a manufacturer and value-added distributor of display products, today announced they have joined forces and introduced a new line of touch-integrated display kits for fine-pixel LCDs. The kits are designed to save time and money by simplifying the integration of a LCD with a touch panel for various applications.

According to Bruce DeVisser, Fujitsu’s product marketing manager for touch panels, the new Apollo LCD Smart Kits take the guesswork out of choosing the right touch panel for the LCD and the application, and eliminate the task of tracking down all the right parts and integrating them together.

“Typically, designers had two options when they wanted a touch interface with their LCD: obtain a separate LCD kit and a separate touch screen kit and combine the two, or consult a VAR that specializes in integrating the two components to custom-build what you want," he said. “The Smart Kits are a quicker and much more cost-effective way to obtain all the necessary components in one, do- it-yourself kit."

Apollo matched up its LCDs with Fujitsu’s standard 4- and 7-wire resistive touch panels, and offers them as a standard integrated assembly. The result is more than 23 different assemblies of LCDs with touch panels in sizes ranging from 5.7" to 15". In addition, the kits include a touch controller, and offer choices of SBC (LVDS), ARGB, and DVI video interfaces.

Apollo offers full engineering and technical support for the Smart Kits. They can also further customize the products to enhance the LCD output, provide custom enclosures or mountings, and meet special optical requirements, including using special Fujitsu touch panel features such as high-transparency and circular polarization.
