KVM Switch Provides Efficiency and System Reliability

Sunnyvale, CA, September 9, 2002 — Fujitsu Components America Inc. today released an intelligent, eight-port keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) switch capable of controlling up to 64 hosts with different operating systems from a single console.
The SERVIS™ FS-108MT KVM switch connects eight PC and/or Sun host machines. Direct connection of Sun system, keyboard and mouse devices is also supported, eliminating the expense of adapters. Cascading up to eight SERVIS units provides control for up to 64 host systems, allowing small and mid-size enterprises to improve their efficiency when installing and maintaining operating systems and software applications.
Each SERVIS port features a dedicated microprocessor that maintains the independent status of each host system’s keyboard and mouse port. This ensures reliable switching between hosts and operating systems, and also enables simultaneous, multiple host start-up from a single power switch at the main unit or keyboard. Other features include an on-screen display function, hot key, auto-scan and manual select modes.
The unit’s flat, modular design fits into a 19-inch 1U rack-mount panel. To simplify cable management and improve reliability, cable connections can be located to the rear of the rack by separating the control panel from the main unit. SERVIS is powered by the host system, eliminating the need for a separate power supply, although one is available as an option for special requirements.
SERVIS supports 101 – 109 key PS/2 English and Japanese keyboards, Sun keyboards and mice, 2- and 3-button Microsoft-compatible mice. It also supports VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA, and UXGA multi-sync monitors (up to 1600x1200 resolution) operating at 200MHz.
The 8-port SERVIS KVM switch (FS-108MT) is available now through distributors and VARs.
