Compact 42V Automotive Relay has High Switching Capability and Low Power Consumption


42 Volt Automotive Relay

Sunnyvale, CA, April 8, 2002 — Furthering its development of 42V relays, Fujitsu Components America, Inc. (FCAI) today began sampling a new low-power, plug-in relay for high-current switching automotive applications, such as blower motors, fan motors, electric power steering systems, electric parking brake systems, and wiper motors.

The new relay is capable of switching 20A (DC42V) at locked motor load for 100 thousand operations (min.), or 10A at locked motor load for 200 thousand operations (min.). The device has the same dimensions as other 12V Micro ISO relays [22.5mm (L) x 15mm (W) x 25mm (H)] enabling it to plug into existing relay boxes.

The 1 Form C/1 Form A relay features an optimized contact circuit structure that improves current break capability at both Make and Break contacts. This structure results in wide contact gaps and 2.38W coil power consumption. It also eliminates the need for magnetic parts to erase arc discharge.

The relay has a voltage range of 27 to 50VDC and an operating temperature range of -40 to +125C. It also meets ISO9000 and ISO14000 standards.

Preliminary pricing is set at $2.70 per device for ten thousand pieces.
