Fujitsu Shows that Flexibility and Flawless Execution are Critical in Tough Economy
Sunnyvale, CA, December 10, 2001 — In a challenging business climate, the ability to meet sudden supply changes, cut costs, and maintain zero product defects are keys to a strong, world-class supplier. Sun Microsystems acknowledged this fact by presenting Fujitsu Components America, Inc. with its 2001 Best-in-Class supplier award.
The award recognizes parent company, Fujitsu Component Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan, for receiving the highest, overall scorecard-ranking of any Sun supplier in their product segment for fiscal year 2001. Fujitsu furnishes keyboards and mice for all of Sun’s products.
In a statement of commendation at the awards ceremony, Sun Microsystems Inc. noted, “By significantly reducing manufacturing lead times, Fujitsu was able to respond effectively to sudden changes in Sun’s supply plans. They also worked with Sun to identify cost-reduction opportunities. These accomplishments, while maintaining highest quality standards of zero defects for all of its input device products, illustrate how Fujitsu earned this award recognition."
“Being recognized as a quality supplier in a healthy economy is a compliment," said Don Dealtry, chief operating officer, Fujitsu Components America, Inc. “But in a difficult market, refocusing on the core of the customer relationship—‘how can we help you succeed?’—is critical for success. Being awarded for that is truly an honor."
Sun presents its annual supplier awards to acknowledge attention to quality, investment in global support and unrelenting commitment to high standards.
