New Touch Panel Factory Enhances Fujitsu’s Marketing Efforts in North America

Sunnyvale, CA, November 13, 2001 — Fujitsu Components America, Inc. (FCAI) today announced that it will begin actively marketing resistive touch panels in North America.

The announcement comes as a result of a new joint-venture company formed by parent company Fujitsu Component Limited (FCL) and compact disk manufacturer CMC to manufacture touch panels. The new 7,000-square meter factory has doubled Fujitsu’s touch panel production capacity and engineering resources.

The new manufacturing company, Transtouch Technology Inc. (TTI), is located in Tao-yuan, Taiwan. The new facility augments Fujitsu’s existing factory in Suzaka city, Nagano, Japan. Both factories will develop and manufacture Fujitsu’s resistive touch panels, ranging from 2-inches to 17-inches (diagonal).

Fujitsu Components America will market the resistive touch panels, which are a low-power, cost-effective alternative to capacitive panels, in North America. Applications include notebook PCs, LCD monitors and digital home appliances.

The TTI factory (www.transtouch.com.tw) features a newly constructed clean room equipped with new and updated equipment. The factory started operations in July, and successfully completed FCL’s quality assurance audit in September. Customers in Taiwan and Japan are already receiving panel shipments. Drop shipments to Europe and the United States will begin in early 2002.
