Fujitsu Takamisawa's New Signal Relay Combines High Insulation and Switching Properties

FTR-C2 Relay

Sunnyvale, CA, August 6, 2001 — Fujitsu Takamisawa America, Inc. today released a miniature signal relay with high-insulating properties that eliminates the need for supplementary transformers to separate Telephone Network Voltage (TNV) circuits. By providing both insulating and switching properties, the relay simplifies and increases the efficiency of the circuit, and reduces the size and cost of the end device.

The 2 Form C, FTR-C2 relay features 2.0mm gaps between coil and contact, between open contacts, and between contact sets, to meet the Working Voltage 250V insulation specification of the IEC60950 standard. Applications include office equipment such as photocopiers, facsimile machines and modems.

Fujitsu Takamisawa designed the relay using a minimal number of components to reduce the size of the relay, but still obtain the 2mm clearance. The result is a device measuring 11.6mm (H) x 20.2mm (W) x 10mm (D).

The 1A, FTR-C2 relay features 0.3W nominal power, a 3kV dielectric withstand voltage (average), a 2.5kV lightening surge (10/700 microseconds) and 2.5mm creepage. It also meets UL, CSA and BSi standards.

Available immediately in surface-mount and through-hole versions, the FTR-C2 is priced at $4.00 each in ten thousand-piece quantities.
