Compact Keyboard with Integrated Pointing Device Conserves Work Space

Sunnyvale, CA, July 9, 2001 — Fujitsu Takamisawa America, Inc. (FTA) today released a reduced-footprint keyboard with an embedded pointing device that maximizes workspace without compromising functionality.

Targeted to OEMs and resellers in the desktop PC, workstation and server markets, the FKB8738 keyboard features 87 keys and measures 384mm long x 158mm wide x 28.34mm high. Three special keys support Windows95® functionality.

The FKB8738 features a two-button pointing device integrated above the inverted-T cursor keys that is compatible with Windows 95 and 98 mouse drivers. Based on Fujitsu's proprietary ErgoPoint™ non-contacting, magnetic-sensing technology, it features a primary navigation dome that allows a 10 degree range of motion (+/-5 degrees in all directions from the center of the dome) and two smaller buttons that function as right and left mouse buttons.

Fujitsu designed the FKB8738 with ergonomics in mind. Its full-travel, 3.8mm keystroke, curved keyswitch panel and full-size, sculpted key caps enhance user comfort and accuracy. It also features ultra-silent operation and soft-tactile keyswitch feedback. Available immediately through distribution, the FKB8738 keyboard is $22.50 each in OEM quantities, with an MSRP of $29.25. Color options are either light gray or black.
