Fujitsu Consulting Expands BPO Capability with Cendera

Significant growth in business process outsourcing (BPO) services expected through 2008, providing impetus for leadership move by Fujitsu Consulting


Edison, NJ, March 16, 2005 —  Fujitsu Consulting today announced that it has expanded its telecommunications outsourcing capabilities through the addition of Dallas, Texas-based Cendera Technologies, a company dedicated to delivery of professional services and custom software solutions. Under the terms of the agreement Fujitsu Consulting has acquired assets of Cendera, along with its veteran staff of telecommunications software developers and operational support systems (OSS) specialists. The deal significantly enhances Fujitsu’s existing business process outsourcing (BPO) capabilities, providing the firm with even greater expertise in the telecommunications industry.

“As competition increases within the telecommunications industry due to the pressures of voice-over-IP and other emerging technologies, companies are realizing the value of outsourcing their non-core services,” stated John Rose, CEO of Fujitsu Consulting. “Cendera built its business on responding to the unique challenges facing telecom companies in a constantly changing regulatory and competitive environment. Cendera has established an impressive project delivery record in building and extending operational support systems for North America’s leading communications organizations. By focusing on the systems and software that form the operational foundation for these telecom companies, and by adding much needed functionality to business processes, Cendera has provided its telecom clients with support systems that exceed today’s standards for reliability and scalability.

Merging Cendera’s team into the Fujitsu Consulting BPO group reinforces the company’s position as a key outsourcing partner within North America’s telecom industry. Long known for its exemplary work with clients such as Verizon and SBC, Fujitsu Consulting is actively expanding its reach within key services such as BPO, enterprise information management and legacy modernization. The acquisition and integration of Cendera represents an important part of that strategy.

With analysts pegging the worldwide BPO market at between $140 to 170 billion by 2008, with an annual growth rate exceeding 9%, industry watchers agree that the time is ripe for companies with the right delivery model. The accelerated pace of change within the telecom sector has made it increasingly challenging for telcos to focus on both core services and business processes. For this reason, the adoption rate of BPO strategies within this sector has outstripped other sectors in North America. With the help of Cendera’s team, Fujitsu Consulting is positioned to provide critical telecom BPO services to both current and future clients.

Under the terms of the agreement, all Cendera operational staff will join Fujitsu Consulting.
