Using the Fujitsu optical module, IT managers have the flexibility to implement either a copper or an optical solution using one low-cost copper I/O interface.

The X2 x-mGC module transmits 10Gb/s Ethernet over 20m of standard InfiniBand copper cable (AWG24) or VSR parallel optics through a single port, offering a cost-effective, standards-compliant product targeted for multiple applications in 10Gb/s enterprise, storage, and telecom markets. Using the imbedded media detect circuit, transmission up to 300 meters over standard multi-mode can also be achieved using Fujitsu’s o-MGC optical media converter.

For distances less than 20m, the microGiGaCN series provides a low-cost alternative to optical fiber.
