(FCPA), a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced volume availability of its new fi-4860C production-level scanner equipped with state of the art ultrasonic double-feed detection technology, which helps prevent lost images and enables larger batches of mixed document types to be scanned quickly, reliably, and automatically. With the addition of ultrasonic technology, Fujitsu's fi-4860C becomes the first scanner in the document imaging market to include three independent methods to detect document double-feeds -- the scanner is also equipped with infrared and length sensors. Fujitsu increased worldwide enterprise hard disk drive shipments to over 1.2M units, a 78% increase over the previous quarter 2Q03 (CY) and a 47% increase compared to the same quarter last year. Fujitsu also announced worldwide record shipment growth in the mobile hard disk drive market increasing drive shipments to 2.0M units, a 19% increase over the previous quarter 2Q03 (CY). That percentage represents a 90% increase in the number of units shipped compared to the same quarter last year.
