As one of the largest publicly traded specialty retailers of leather apparel in the world, Danier Leather Inc. designs, manufactures and markets leather and suede clothing and accessories.

Founded in Toronto in 1972, Danier operates 91 shopping mall, street-front and “power centre” stores across Canada. For more than a quarter century, the retailer has made a positive impact among consumers as a provider of fashionable, yet affordable, leather products.

As the company expanded, executive management realized the need for technology that would automate store functions and provide a centralized data management and reporting system. Therefore, it needed a single retail technology vendor that could provide a “one-stop shop” for its hardware, software and services needs.

“With a constricted IT department, it is critical that we leverage the expertise of our vendors to efficiently deploy new technologies. However, if we purchased all components from separate vendors, it would require extensive coordination and management from our team to integrate and align those technologies,” said Phil Cutter, chief information officer for Danier Leather. “So, when chose to upgrade our store system, we looked for a sole provider that could offer a comprehensive solution to enhance our POS functions, CRM capabilities and more.”
