Captiva Wins Fujitsu Innovative Leadership Award for Valuable Input Management Solutions
Captiva Honored for Providing Innovative Information Capture System to Jostens

San Diego, CA, November 11, 2004 — Captiva Software Corporation, (NASDAQ: CPTV) a leading provider of input management solutions, today announced that it has garnered the Innovative Leadership Award from Fujitsu Computer Products of America Inc., for the unique information capture system Captiva provided Jostens Inc., a leading provider of class rings and graduation products. Fujitsu, a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, gives the Innovative Leadership Award to independent software vendors that leverage pioneering document imaging products and concepts to streamline business processes that positively impact a customer's bottom line.
"Fujitsu enjoys a very strong working relationship with Captiva and is thrilled to present this award, which recognizes the significant customer value delivered by Captiva's input management solutions," said Don McMahan, vice president of sales, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America. "The integration of Captiva's award-winning forms processing solution, FormWare®, with Fujitsu scanners has greatly helped Jostens improve efficiency and accuracy by processing orders directly in the field."
A Captiva customer since 2000, Jostens had been using FormWare in its central operations facility to process 30,000 custom jewelry and graduation product orders per day. However, in the spring of 2004, Jostens desired a new direct order entry (DOE) system that would enable field representatives to take and process orders on-site to speed and streamline order processing.
Captiva and Fujitsu teamed together to provide Jostens agents a DOE system that runs on a laptop using FormWare in conjunction with Fujitsu fi-4120C scanners. Because every product Jostens offers is custom made, the order form has many options and is easy to complete inaccurately. By utilizing FormWare in conjunction with the Fujitsu fi-4120C, the DOE system immediately identifies and corrects any problems so accurate digital data can be sent directly to Jostens' headquarters and the customer receives a perfect product.
"We're pleased to be recognized by Fujitsu for the innovation and proven value our solutions bring to our joint customers," said Wayne Ford, Captiva's Vice President of Strategic Alliances and Channel Development. "Jostens provides a good example of an innovative use of both Captiva and Fujitsu products to improve its business. By processing order forms remotely from customer sites, Jostens has been able to enhance the customer experience with efficiency and a much-improved level of accuracy. By using FormWare and Fujitsu scanners in the field, any mistakes can be caught immediately, saving Jostens time and money and improving customer satisfaction."
FormWare is Captiva's flagship input management software that manages business-critical information from forms, documents and electronic data streams into an enterprise in an accurate, timely and cost-effective manner. This information can then be exported to database, document, content and other information management systems, helping to maximize the accuracy and value of the data, speed the capture process, increase productivity and significantly reduce the cost of manual operations.
