FileNet Wins Fujitsu's Innovative Leadership Award

FileNet's Enterprise Content Management Solution Generates $1 Million Savings for Miami-Dade Court System

New York, AIIM 2003 (Booth #1313), April 9, 2003 - FileNet Corporation (www.filenet.com) (Nasdaq: FILE), the leading provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions, today announced Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., has awarded the Company's Fujitsu's Innovative Leadership Award for 2003, for its ECM solution implemented by the Miami-Dade County Clerk of Courts, Miami, Fla. The award was presented to FileNet during a ceremony this morning at AIIM 2003.

The award is designed to recognize independent software and hardware vendors' significant contributions to content management solutions that streamline business processes and positively impact their customers' bottom lines.

The Miami-Dade County courts are using FileNet's ECM architecture to automate its entire traffic court system, the volume of which is rapidly approaching one million traffic cases per year. Since its implementation, the Clerk's office has been able to manage 30 percent more court cases with 15 percent fewer staff, resulting in a $1 million savings in personnel costs. Additionally, traffic fine collection has improved by 60 percent and the Clerk's office has been able to reclaim 3,500 square feet of storage space.

"We're honored to receive this award from Fujitsu, one of the industry's most respected leaders in document imaging and a long-time valued FileNet partner," said Michael W. Harris, senior vice president, Products & Strategy, FileNet Corp. "The Miami-Dade County Courts are just one of the more than 3,800 organizations worldwide that are achieving better business results and improved decision making through FileNet's integrated ECM capabilities."

Implemented by Accenture, one of FileNet's ValueNet partners, the Miami-Dade proprietary system is known as the Simultaneous Paperless Image Retrieval Information Technology (SPIRIT). All incoming traffic case documents are scanned and entered into the system through an imaging bank consisting of two Fujitsu M4099D VRS scanners and 11 Fujitsu fi-4640C scanners. FileNet's ECM architecture then aggregates content and automates processes, enabling court personnel to make decisions more quickly.

Going forward, Miami-Dade plans to expand their FileNet ECM solution to support online viewing of traffic citations and payment of fines, further increasing ROI, and enhancing service to its constituents.
