Passive Optical Network
Many different applications are driving the need for widespread fibre access, such as the evolution of TV to on-demand IP-HDTV. Fujitsu’s passive optical networking platform represents one of the simplest GPONs to provision and control – lowering OpEx – with powerful Ethernet and IP tools applied at GPON line speed.
Fujitsu's high capacity GPON access solution typically provides a packet engine on every GPON OLT, supporting 29M+ packets per second with deep packet inspection. Designed with QoS, security and multicasting as priorities, it helps to lower OpEx through easy provisioning with VLANs, while providing centralised, standards-based ONT management through OMCI.
With a 4-port GPON OLT card, Fujitsu's solution enables a 10Gb/s uplink and 10Gb/s between modules, with each module being a 15Gb/s scalable, distributed Ethernet switch.
Capable of managing 2,048+ services simultaneously, Fujitsu's packet engine incorporates custom silicon, developed exclusively for carrier-level packet processing, distributed onto every GPON blade.
Operational benefits include:
- Lower OpEx through one of the simplest GPON platforms to provision and control.
- Centralised, standards-based ONT management through OMCI.
- High capacity for scaleability.
